Bonds Multiple Ages Groups, Ability levels and Cultures in Reading

The Book Club Games focus on different levels mixed with adults to involve kids, teens and adults in reading together. They can be used with any ability level. Nonreaders or weak readers can enjoy the story on audio then build comprehension, communication and motivation side by side their peers. Beginning readers can also build comprehension with stories read to them as they learn to read.

A Kindergartener & Preschooler play Ira Sleeps Over with their moms. All create questions for each other and draw the story on the game board. ESL college students play Thank You, Mr. Falker, a picture book for all ages, with elementary school students. The ESL students find their English flows fluently as they take turns discussing and drawing the important events in their sequence and sharing their lives through this heartwarming story. Book Club Members dress up as their favorite character and enjoy a potluck meal reflecting Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 100 Years of Solitude. All share inspired personal actions to take to make the world better including a group action of bringing books to a nearby orphanage and reading to learn more about Colombian culture.
