Cards & Journals

Cards and Journals

Cards engage lively discussion igniting reflection and connecting deep thinking skills.

Just Cards build comprehension and critical thinking independently or in a group discussion.

Each card has two generic questions about the story elements: plot, characters, setting (s) or theme (s).

The questions engage knowledge or factual, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation levels of comprehension. Each card is labeled with the story elements and comprehension levels it covers (Bloom’s Taxonomy).

These questions are uniquely generic enabling them to be used with any story and allowing them to “stick into the brain and stay there to devour new reading” with focus and memory. They are for individuals, partners, group discussion, parents & teachers .

The Reading and Movie Companion Journal Guides at all levels incorporate all the many comprehension and critical thinking skills of The Book Club Games and What’s the Big Idea?

They include a recommended reading list as well as a guide on how to find books to love. Packaged with dice, magnifying glass and reflective pencil, the guides’ instructions are engaging activities to teach active reading through journaling.

These journal guides are a great help in extracting facts and deeper levels of thinking through any story and can be considered the silent book club game. They can be brought to The Book Club Game to enhance the game and/or used independently.
