Engaged Grand Conversations, the sharing of books and the gleaning of inspiration to make the world better take place simultaneously playing The Book Club Game and its Editions.
In this age of high tech communication cell phones, email, and instant message often replace the great feeling of an eye-to-eye hearty conversation. The Book Club Game, its editions, including What’s the Big Idea? for teens, journal and cards are tools that bring a Grand Conversation back through the sharing of literature. Friends, neighbors, and community members discover the depth of novels, uncover special messages of stories, and reveal their own ideas, experiences, and reactions as they move through the story and their own lives in this game and through the cards. Comprehension, communication, and a genuine love for reading are all results of playing.
In addition to getting to know one another better through a book shared the games focus on more great reads to share and on rewarding players for sharing books they’ve enjoyed while others build a recommended list.
Journals guide individuals’ responses to the same questions as in the game to save, savor and bring to the game to share. In this way participants prepare for a deep insightful game to be played.
Inspiration questions guide the players to identify any story’s inspiration and tell how they as individuals or as a group might actualize these inspirations into actions that could make their life, those lives around them or the world better.
Book Clubs using these tools with friends can learn more about their communities by taking turns choosing books from each others’ cultures and favorite genres to expand everyone’s genres and celebrate the diversity of the reading group and the characters read about. There is part of the games and journals that stimulates research of new information based on curiosity from the reading done.
