Mission Statement: Reading Solutions is dedicated to bringing you highly effective, efficient, meaningful and transferable reading strategies in motivating fun formats using a wide range of engaging learning modalities to fully develop and build comprehension, critical thinking, communication and genuine love for reading.

About the Site

Welcome to ReadingSolutions.net where you will find that the products and blogs are actually Reading Solutions for many reading problems, issues, challenges, concerns and matters of the reading process and reading instruction. These same solutions unite readers of all ages to enhance their own reading experiences as well as those of others.

The Games, Reading Companion Journals and Cards

The games, journals and cards for purchase are fun, intense tools that build: comprehension, critical thinking, communication, personal booklists, reading genres, inspiration, reflections and connections to literature and book clubs of all shapes and sizes. They include creative, focused meaningful activities to deepen reading comprehension and illuminate the true joy and purpose of reading and learning.

The Book Club Game and its many new editions including The Reading Companion Journals and The Reading Companion Journal Guides and The Book Club Games forge new paths to finding new reads as well.

The Blogs

The Reading Solution Blog offers motivating, efficient and effective solutions to many reading problems, issues, matters and challenges along with ways to use the materials.
The Question Blog demonstrates the generic questions of the games, cards and journals through many books on the booklists.

The Booklists

The Booklists are composed from surveyed favorites of parents, teachers, teens and children. The teens’ section includes many titles that you might find in their school curriculum so that parents can read and share these titles with their teens, a great way to bond and communicate in a nonthreatening way. These lists are actually part of the game and can be downloaded as new lists are needed to play the game. The lists include a book finder generator where questions guide the player to find more books to read through peer recommendation (strong motivator) and other ways. Please email me your favorite books or reads including short stories and/ or movies to be included on the list. A note on how this read changed your life in some way or inspired you to help others would be especially interesting to readers.

The Interactive Booklist

This is a creative activity that builds comprehension (analysis, application, synthesis and evaluation), critical thinking, imagination and a booklist for others. Adults, teens and children are invited to join in the fun by dressing up as a favorite character and sending in the interview of them as that character. It is great way to take advantage of a fun dress up costume day (Halloween, perhaps, but any day will do) to formulate a classroom booklist of favorite reads and/or to kick off a family, friends or neighborhood book club and generate a booklist of favorites to be read. Peer recommendation for reading is wonderfully strong. See the first Reading Solutions Blog.

Comprehension First, Pages and More to Come

Please remember that comprehension and critical thinking can and should be built before learning to decode or read fluently (with books read to learners or with videos, movies, audios of stories). It should be built with nonreaders, during beginning reading with higher level books read to learners (or stories in other formats) and continuously with readers at all levels. That is why the products you see on the site are the first to be released, because every age level and reading ability level can benefit from them. All ages of book clubs will benefit as well by having a resource, The Reading Companion Journal Guide, to let them journal their thoughts to remember to bring to the group and a focusing tool, The Book Club Game and its editions, to deepen their meetings through building comprehension and focusing critical thinking. The ultimate goal of reading is strong comprehension. These subjects will be addressed in the blog as well.

Please explore the many pages of the site that explain the details of the products and possibilities with them. In the works are similar products to address informational reading, beginning reading and the evolution of decoding to fluency and comprehension. I am excited to bring you the very strategies that have consistently worked with great ease, fun and speed enabling parents, teachers, families, friends and students of all ages and ability levels to build comprehension, communication, motivation and a genuine love for reading within my 32 year career as a Reading Specialist.

Please email me with your issues, concerns, comments, favorite books, favorite strategies and questions. I will make every attempt to address them in the blog and/or privately by request. I am available for consulting, facilitating events and private tutoring. I am also happy to link with websites that share common interests.

Sincerely,
Teri Azar
